November 14th Earthquake- Service Update

Following on from yesterdays earthquake that affected the Canterbury, Marlborough and Wellington regions we are starting to receive confirmations on the road and ferry service infrastructure status.

Last night ferry services returned to their normal schedule and we are confident that this will continue for the foreseeable future and we are able to resume our Inter-Island services.

Many businesses are still closed, particularly in the Wellington CBD- we are continuing to monitor this and will keep you informed on the status of these deliveries as and when possible.

As you will be aware, damage to main arterial highways in the South Island is significant, this will affect the delivery time of Courier and Transport freight potentially adding 1-2 days to delivery time on Inter-Island freight, both North & South bound.

PBT Couriers and PBT Transport services are in full operation so you may continue to send your items as per normal, as per the above- please where possible, allow for 1-2 days additional delivery time on inter-island freight- both North & South bound.

We encourage you to notify your customers of these delays and as information comes to hand we will keep you informed.

We will continue to post updates to Facebook as they come to hand, view them here

Please keep safe and look out for each other.

November 14th Eartquake- Service Update

As you will now be aware, overnight New Zealand was shaken by a 7.5 magnitude earthquake which has affected much of the country with Canterbury, Wellington and Marlborough experiencing the most damage.

With road closures and rail disruptions reported it is likely that there will be delays to deliveries in and around these regions. There will be no deliveries into the Wellington CBD until Civil Defence have given clearance.
Post safety inspections and clearance of our affected sites, our operation will be returning to normal where possible and practical.

Our priority is to minimise disruption to yours and your customers businesses and return our service to normal as soon as possible whilst ensuring the safety of our staff and contractors.

We advise our Courier clients to utilise our overnight air service where required. Select overnight option in PBLink or contact your local branch to order overnight tickets.

We encourage you to notify your customers of these delays and as information comes to hand we will keep you informed.

We will be posting regular updates to Facebook throughout the day which you can follow here

Thanks New Zealand

PBT would like to thank New Zealand for the phenomenal donation offers we have received from around New Zealand in support of the Canterbury Region.

The Salvation Army has advised that they are now calling for more cash donations where possible to help support the search and rescue efforts within the Christchurch area. You can donate to the Red Cross by logging on to their website www.redcross.co.nz

We have been in contact with The Salvation Army who has advised that they are still currently assessing the needs within Christchurch, and at present they are not in recovery stage, as such PBT can only accept donations of bottled water and non-perishable foods for the Christchurch region.

if you would like to donate food and water for Christchurch, these items will need to be dropped in to your local PBT branch by no later than 5.00pm tomorrow, PBT will be to transporting these vital supplies over the weekend to Christchurch and await further delivery instructions from The Salvation Army.
